Conical Bottom Grain Silo

Conical Bottom Grain Silo

Conical-bottom steel silos have a cone-shaped bottom, allowing grain to flow out automatically under its own weight, resulting in fast discharge and no residue. They are ideal for grain processing, feed, and seed industries that require frequent loading and unloading. In terms of materials, they are typically made of galvanized corrugated steel sheets or high-strength hot-rolled coils, featuring high strength, corrosion resistance, and a long service life.

Product Details

The cone-bottom grain silo is a fully steel prefabricated storage device with a cone-shaped bottom. Its core advantage lies in utilizing the gravity of materials to achieve automatic unloading, featuring excellent self-cleaning and residue-free operation. Structurally, it is assembled from high-strength hot-dip galvanized corrugated steel plates. The silo body consists of three parts: the top, walls, and cone-shaped bottom, standing upright on a steel support structure. The bottom is reinforced with high-strength bolted support columns and scissor braces to ensure overall stability. The silo walls are corrugated, with a smooth, stepless inner wall for easy material discharge. The cone bottom angle can be designed to be 45° or 60° depending on the characteristics of the stored material. 45° is suitable for free-flowing granular grains (such as corn, wheat, and soybeans), while 60° is suitable for powders or materials with poor flowability. In terms of applications, cone-bottom grain silos are suitable for scenarios requiring frequent cleaning, such as seed processing, flour mills, feed mills, livestock farms, and grain trading, with volumes ranging from 30 tons to 2000 tons.

The core advantages of this silo type are mainly reflected in four aspects:

First, automatic discharge saves manpower; materials are discharged by gravity, eliminating the need for cleaning equipment such as silo sweepers, significantly reducing labor costs and energy consumption.

Second, convenient construction and short construction period; all components are standardized in production and assembled on-site with bolts, resulting in a short construction cycle. Furthermore, it is disassembled and relocated, reducing secondary investment costs.

Third, long service life; using hot-dip galvanized steel plates (galvanized layer 275-600g/㎡), it has strong corrosion resistance and a design life of 25-50 years

Fourth, easy to integrate with automation systems; it can be equipped with ventilation, temperature measurement, and material level monitoring systems to achieve intelligent management of safe grain storage.

When used in conjunction with a grain dryer, the cone-bottom grain silo is a key component in building an efficient integrated "harvesting-storage-drying" system. The typical workflow is as follows: after cleaning, the wet grain is temporarily stored in a cone-shaped silo. When the dryer needs to be fed, the PLC intelligent control system automatically opens the electric gate at the bottom of the silo and the conveying equipment to precisely feed the grain into the dryer. The dried grain is then lifted by the lifting equipment and sent to another set of cone-shaped or flat-bottomed silos for safe storage. The drying mode can be flexibly selected according to the type of grain: mixed-flow dryers provide uniform hot air and can dry a wide variety of grains, suitable for dual-purpose drying;
